Tour Overview

This is a leisurely Sunday Afternoon tasting & exploration with a fantastic line-up of Tasmanian Superstar Producers!!

Glaetzer-Dixon Family Winemakers - Hobart: Family Owned & Operated

We take you to a hidden urban winery to experience some of the best cool climate varieties that we have like Riesling & Pinot Noir + being able to inside a real working winery with empty & filled barrels, ferments & leftover grape pomace. Glaetzer-Dixon Family Winemakers are acknowledged as being one of the best producers currently in Tasmania especially winning a Jimmy Watson Trophy which was the first ever won in Tasmanian history for their Mon Pere Shiraz, a cool climate classic!!

Derwent Estate Vineyard - Derwent Valley: Family Owned & Operated

Moving our wine journey to Derwent Estate means that we get to try some of the best chardonnay currently in Australia, with their top range named Calcaire - calcareous / limestone. What do the top wine regions of the world have - exactly this limestone soil structure, so we think that they can then make a pretty good line-up, and you can drink them in a 1820’s original thick walled Tasmanian house + when its cold they have a real woodfire going so that you can relax in a warm & comfortable environment with heritage furniture. Or on hot days the veranda is perfect to sit & relax with scenic views of the Derwent River. Did you hear any ghost’s?

Pooley Family Wines - Coal River Valley (Richmond): Family Owned & Operated

After Derwent Estate, we will take you to one of the best producers of single vineyard wines making predominantly Riesling & Pinot Noir - Tasmania wide at Pooley Family Wines, with your guide having to help plant a portion of this vineyard as well. They are family owned & operated, with 3 generations of the family having been involved in the production of these outstanding wines. The Belmont House Cellar Door, built from sandstone off the Butchers Hill where it is also located, is from the early 1800’s & is a classic place for a wine tasting with the heritage connotations it evokes. Coupled with a Wicked Cheese Producer board, we have a great synergy happening between the wine & food for you to enjoy!! This Estate has consistently won Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine’s ‘Best Small Cellar Door’ several years running.

Pooley Family Wines - one of the best producers in the Coal River Valley. Standout Riesling & Pinot Noir but they also do Sauvignon Blanc, Rose, Gewurztraminer & a Cabernet-Merlot Blend
